Carpenter Hayabusa 120-235 L-Quiet
The Carpenter Hayabusa HB120-235 L-Quiet is a floating surface plug designed for anglers targeting powerful game fish. The Hayabusa is designed to produce an effective and versatile action across a wide range of retrieve speeds.
The lure responds well to different combinations of jerk speed, stroke length, strength, and pauses, allowing anglers to adjust the presentation to match the conditions and fish activity. Carpenter notes that the Hayabusa can be worked with short- to medium-stroke actions and at a variety of retrieve speeds.
The Hayabusa is also designed to be easy to operate when wind waves or tidal surface conditions make lure manipulation difficult, as well as when fishing from boats with a high casting deck.
Carpenter's testing and catch records include large yellowtail (Hiramasa) and GT, including yellowtail over 20 kg and GT exceeding 40 kg.

HERU ULUA – Handcrafted Surface Stickbait
Made in Indonesia.
The HERU ULUA is a handcrafted surface stickbait designed for long‑distance casting, explosive topwater strikes, and a smooth, natural swimming action. Each ULUA is shaped, painted, and tuned by hand, giving it the signature Heru slide‑and‑dart movement that consistently triggers reaction bites from GT, tuna, kingfish, amberjack, and other pelagic predators.
Built from durable wood and balanced for stability, the ULUA swims with a wide, natural S‑slide that imitates a fleeing baitfish on the surface. A quick twitch sends the lure into a sharp dart, creating an erratic escape motion that predators cannot resist. Its tuned weight distribution allows anglers to cast far and work the lure effectively even in chop or swell.
Action & Performance The ULUA produces a smooth, wide sliding action with a controlled roll. When twitched, it snaps sharply, mimicking a panicked baitfish skipping across the surface. This combination of slide + dart makes it deadly when fish are feeding aggressively or when they need a more subtle, natural presentation.
Why Anglers Choose the ULUA
- Wide, natural sliding/swimming action
- Sharp darting movement on twitch
- Excellent casting distance
- Stable in rough water
- Handcrafted wood construction
- Proven on GT, tuna, kingfish, amberjack

Heru Bobara – High-Performance Surface Stickbait
Made in Indonesia.
The Heru Bobara is one of Heru’s most iconic surface stickbaits, known for its explosive topwater action, long-distance casting ability, and proven performance on tuna, GT, kingfish, amberjack, and other powerful pelagic predators. Each Bobara is hand-shaped, hand-painted, and tuned individually, giving it the lively, unpredictable swimming action that Heru lures are famous for.
The Bobara series is designed to create a strong surface presence with a wide, sliding S‑swim and a sharp dart when twitched. This action mimics a fleeing baitfish and triggers aggressive strikes even when fish are pressured or feeding selectively. Its balanced body and internal weight system allow anglers to cast far, work the lure easily, and maintain stability in rough water.
Concept & Target Species The Bobara is built for topwater big‑game casting and excels when targeting tuna, GT, kingfish, amberjack, mahi, and other fast-moving pelagics. Its tuned surface action makes it ideal when fish are feeding aggressively or when a lure needs to stand out in chop or swell.
Action & Performance The lure produces a strong splash on entry, followed by a wide, sliding surface swim with a controlled roll. When twitched, it darts sharply, imitating a panicked baitfish. Carpenter BC Popper Normal 75-145 Lure:
BC popper Old-fashioned BC popper was born in 1996 from Carpenter. This popper itself has existed since I was making lures as a hobby before I started carpenter. In the fall of 1994, the year before I started carpenter, I caught yellowtail with this popper at Shiraishi Guri off the coast of Tango Peninsula. I threw it from the roof of the ship and took it out next to the bird (slow popping). At that time, no one was throwing a top water lure in Genesis of the Tango lure game, and it was a super-minor fishing with few people even jigging. I think this yellowtail is probably the first yellowtail caught at the top in Tango.
Effective Fish Species
Tuna Blue Blacked Fish (Yellowtail, amberjack), GT (Giant Trevally/Ulua).
Effective Situation
"BC Popper" is effective in the situation where tuna easily reacts to pop sounds. When aiming for GT, fast winding in the shallow area is effective.
Action
- "BC Popper 75-145 Normal" When aiming for tuna, stop and go popping is performed. When aiming for GT, it is better to just pull fast.
- "BC Popper 75-145 LQ" When aiming for tuna, stop and go popping is performed. When aiming for GT, it is better to just pull fast. Stop and go popping may also be good.
