Carpenter Hayabusa 120-235 L-Quiet
The Carpenter Hayabusa HB120-235 L-Quiet is a floating surface plug designed for anglers targeting powerful game fish. The Hayabusa is designed to produce an effective and versatile action across a wide range of retrieve speeds.
The lure responds well to different combinations of jerk speed, stroke length, strength, and pauses, allowing anglers to adjust the presentation to match the conditions and fish activity. Carpenter notes that the Hayabusa can be worked with short- to medium-stroke actions and at a variety of retrieve speeds.
The Hayabusa is also designed to be easy to operate when wind waves or tidal surface conditions make lure manipulation difficult, as well as when fishing from boats with a high casting deck.
Carpenter's testing and catch records include large yellowtail (Hiramasa) and GT, including yellowtail over 20 kg and GT exceeding 40 kg.

Carpenter Strike Eagle FG Series – SE120-230mm / SE150-245mm
The Carpenter Strike Eagle FG Series is a high-specific-gravity version of Carpenter's Strike Eagle, offered in multiple FG configurations for serious offshore casting applications. The current FG lineup includes the SE120-230mm FG and SE150-245mm FG, with FG-N and FG-MD models.
The Strike Eagle was developed with a different action character from Carpenter lures such as the Gamma, Blue Fish, Maihime, Gen-ei and Hayabusa. Carpenter designed the Strike Eagle to provide another presentation option when changing lure action can make the difference in triggering a strike.
One of the strengths of the Strike Eagle is its controllability in challenging surface conditions. According to Carpenter, the lure is particularly easy to work when small wind waves or current-driven surface chop make it difficult to impart clean action to a lure. It is also designed to be easy to operate from boats with higher casting decks.
The Strike Eagle responds to short- through medium-stroke actions, giving anglers flexibility to adjust their presentation according to sea conditions and fish activity. Carpenter lists Hiramasa (yellowtail/kingfish), GT, tuna and buri (Japanese amberjack) among the target species for the Strike Eagle.
Carpenter develops its lures through field testing and states that its lure lineup is designed around different lure types, sizes and actions so anglers can adapt to changing bait, fish activity and sea conditions.

Carpenter Gamma 160H-245mm FG – Tokara Special (GT & Flying Fish)
The Carpenter Gamma 160H-245mm FG is a special high-specific-gravity model from Carpenter's legendary Gamma-H series, developed for serious offshore casting and powerful gamefish.
This special edition features Carpenter's distinctive Tokara Special (GT & Flying Fish) design with a beautiful metal finish, creating a highly detailed appearance inspired by the waters of Japan's Tokara region.
The Gamma-H has a different action character from the standard Gamma. Carpenter developed the H series to give anglers another effective presentation when fish are not responding to the normal Gamma action. By changing jerk speed, stroke length, pitch, and pause, anglers can adapt the lure's presentation to changing sea conditions and fish activity.
Designed for demanding big-game casting, the Gamma 160H is an excellent choice for targeting GT (Giant Trevally), Hiramasa (Yellowtail Kingfish), and Tuna.

Carpenter Utahime 95-210mm SH / SH-L
The Carpenter Utahime 95-210mm SH / SH-L is a slender-profile topwater lure designed to provide a different presentation from Carpenter's traditional diving pencils such as Gamma and Blue Fish.
Carpenter developed the Utahime with a slimmer silhouette and lighter water-pushing action. This distinctive action can be particularly effective when fish are not responding to conventional diving-pencil presentations, giving anglers another option for adapting to changing bait, sea conditions, and fish behavior.
For Hiramasa (Yellowtail Kingfish) and GT, Carpenter has found the Utahime effective with longer-stroke actions. When targeting tuna, shorter strokes can be effective, particularly around active feeding schools. Stroke length, speed, and pauses can be adjusted according to the target species and fishing conditions.
Specifications
Model: Utahime 95-210mm SH / SH-L
Length: 210 mm
Weight: Approx. 95 g
Type: Floating (F)
Recommended Hook Weight: Approx. 10 g per hook
Recommended Split Ring: 250 lb
Target Species: Tuna, Hiramasa (Yellowtail Kingfish), GT (Giant Trevally), Yellowtail (Buri)
Made in Japan
Hook & Split Ring Recommendation
Carpenter recommends approximately 10 g per hook with a 250 lb split ring for the Utahime 95-210.
These specifications are design recommendations. Hook and split-ring size may be adjusted according to the target species, fishing conditions, and desired lure buoyancy.
Utahime Action
The Utahime's slender body and light water-pushing action distinguish it from Carpenter's Gamma and Blue Fish series.
This different action gives anglers another presentation when fish are reluctant to respond to standard diving pencils. Longer strokes can be effective when targeting Hiramasa and GT, while shorter strokes can be used for tuna, particularly around active feeding schools.
Proven on Trophy Fish
The Carpenter Utahime 95-210 SH / SH-L has demonstrated its capability on powerful offshore gamefish in catches documented by Carpenter.
Carpenter's official catch records include a 46 kg (approx. 101 lb) Yellowfin Tuna caught on the Utahime 95-210 SH-L in 2025. Carpenter's 2026 catch records also document a Bluefin Tuna caught on the Utahime 95-210 SH.
These documented field results demonstrate the Utahime's capability as a serious offshore casting lure for large tuna, GT, and Hiramasa.
Please Note
Weight is approximate and may vary slightly between the SH and SH-L models and individual lures. Colors, patterns, and finishes may also vary slightly.
Hook and split-ring specifications are Carpenter's design recommendations and may be adjusted depending on the target species and desired lure buoyancy.

Carpenter Damsel 120-185mm / PP
The Carpenter Damsel 120-185mm is a floating topwater popper designed to offer a different presentation when GT, Hiramasa, and Tuna are not responding to conventional pencil lures.
Carpenter redesigned the Damsel's body shape and weight placement to create its own distinctive movement and surface action. One of its key characteristics is a “sweet” popping sound, which Carpenter notes can be particularly effective when targeting tuna.
The Damsel excels in calm, flat-water conditions, making it an excellent alternative when fish are reluctant to respond to diving pencils or other traditional surface presentations.
Specifications
Model: Damsel 120-185mm / Damsel 120-185mm PP
Length: 185 mm
Weight: Approx. 120 g*
Type: Floating (F)
Recommended Hook Weight: Approx. 11 g per hook
Recommended Split Ring: Carpenter 250 lb
Target Species: GT, Hiramasa (Yellowtail Kingfish), Tuna
Made in Japan
Action & Recommended Conditions
The Damsel produces a distinctive surface movement combined with its characteristic sweet popping sound.
Carpenter particularly recommends the Damsel in calm and flat-water conditions. When GT, Hiramasa, or Tuna are showing little interest in pencil lures, switching to the Damsel's popper presentation can give fish a completely different stimulus.
Proven in the Field
During Carpenter's testing in Okinawa under windless, glass-calm conditions, prototype Damsels produced an impressive five GT in approximately half a day of fishing.
Carpenter has also documented the Damsel being used successfully for GT, Tuna, and Sailfish, demonstrating its versatility for serious offshore casting applications.
Hook & Split Ring Recommendation
Carpenter recommends approximately 11 g per hook with a 250 lb split ring.
Hook and split-ring specifications are design recommendations and may be adjusted depending on target species, fishing conditions, and desired lure buoyancy.
Please Note
Approx. 120 g is Carpenter's published specification for the standard Damsel 120 without hooks. Weight may vary depending on model/type.
